About the author

Howard John Coady was born in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, and has lived there all his life. He is married and had three sons.

Before attending Maritime Forest Ranger School in Fredericton he worked for twelve years scaling and cruising for several companies -- J. Lewis and Sons, Miramichi Lumber Company, and the Halifax Power and and Pulp Company.

After graduation he was employed by the Department of Lands and Forests of Nova Scotia until he retired twenty-nine years later.

Since retirement he has kept busy and active, involved in various activities and spending considerable time in his wood-lot trimming Christmas trees and cutting fire wood.

The old saying "you can take the boy out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the boy," can truly be applied to Howard Coady.
